So, I turned 35 on Monday. My sister tells me that makes me “officially in my mid-30′s.” I’m pretty sure she told me that last year, and the year before that she told me it was “the start of my mid-30′s.” I’m pretty sure she’s just giving me shit. That’s all right, she’ll always be almost 7 years older than me, so when she’s starting her mid-40′s, I’ll still be in my mid-30′s. Anyway, it was quite an enjoyable birthday. I started celebrating on Saturday by getting my hair done at The Platinum Lounge, which I highly recommend. Sola did my hair, and I absolutely love it. First time getting my hair professionally dyed (well, second, but the first time was sub-standard, so I’m not counting it.)
Monday night after work I had dinner at Christine and Drew’s house, we had some delightful tacos y burritos. Christine marinated the meat in Coca-Cola – it was quite tender and delicious, and didn’t taste like Coke or anything. We then watched “Son Of Rambow“, which was very cute and funny. Good for kids and adults, especially adults with a sense of humor about the 1980′s (which is, of course, anyone who grew up in them.)
What you see there is the meat, grilling, and the taco fixin’s getting fixed. You have to click the images to see that my loving sister made salsa from scratch. DELICIOUS. After dinner, during the movie, we enjoyed some delicious cake. No lie.
In add ition to having a delightful day, I decided that I’m going to make some positive changes in my life, including, but not limited to, being more out going with new people. I’m going to have the best year yet, and all the rest to come will be even better.
Thanks to all my friends and loved ones that made the day special: Aaron, for being the first to wish me a Happy Birthday (called me at the asscrack of dawn before heading to school for a ridiculously long day) Mike and Sam, for calling me before I went to work to do the same, Cary for calling me at lunch, Christine & Drew for a lovely evening including homemade dinner and
cake and contributing to my new ‘do, Sophia, for getting me ANOTHER cake from Gayle’s Bakery (a-fucking-mazing chocolate mousse cake), Cass, for trying to call, even though I hadn’t given her my new number, John for the card and the dinner yet to come. It was a very good day.
